2016 Detroit Autorama Painless Performance/STREET RODDER Top 100 Winners

1940 Mercury – Jason Graham – Portland, TN
Everybody at the Detroit Autorama must have encountered Jason Graham’s 1940 Mercury 100 times and stopped and stared at the car every time. The car, built for owner David Trent, started rust-free but wore a badly done chop. Jason completely redid the roof, taking the chop to six inches and making it a three-window hardtop. Twin Stromberg 97s top the 1950 Merc Flathead 8BA. Custom skirts, 1939 Ford headlights, 1959 Caddy taillights, and 15-inch chrome artillery wheels add to the exterior impression. In the sunlight, the custom pearl yellow paint color fades to silvery white in places. It was chosen and mixed by the owner, and inspired the Merc’s nickname, Sexy Blonde.
